Hey, I’m Jo!

A little about me & why I started Looking Outside.

I am obsessed with curiosity. I get a lot of energy from connecting to people who think differently to me.

I’m a business strategist motivated by transforming where brands are today, helping them push into new areas. I’ve done this for over a decade leveraging curiosity, diversity of thought and a drive to connect with fresh voices. The ability for this kind of exploration to broadened my perspective, and generate fresh business ideas, inspired me to create a podcast that could benefit others in doing the same.

Through Looking Outside, I want to bring more diverse, more philosophical and more vulnerable conversations to the business community of engaged and open business leaders, from across strategy, marketing, foresight and insights.

Where I’ve worked.

Short Creds.

  • I lead Foresight and Capabilities Exploration at McDonald’s, helping push the strategies of one of the world’s best known brands into the future.

    Creator & host of the Looking Outside podcast.

    Co-Founder of Future 3000, an invite-only network for corporate side futurists (launching December 2023).

  • I hold 15+ years experience in the consumer goods and food industries, spanning Marketing, Strategy, Innovation, Foresight and Insights.

  • My personal motto is to stay curious & be intentionally observant.

    I believe in the power of ideas that can make our world better.

  • I was born in Poland, lived and worked most of my life in Australia and, for the last two years, am living in America (in the beautiful city of Chicago).

  • Keynote speaker and guest at various marketing, insights and foresight events and publications, including Venture Beat, CES, Merlien Institute, Copenhagen Institute of Futures Studies, Greenbook, BrandingMag, Association of Professional Futurists, Good Food Institute & more.

  • I hold a degree in two majors, Professional Writing & Philosophy, with additional accreditations in futures studies and marketing.
